LUNAHUANA


Lunahuaná or "chasten people" is the name of the tourist capital of the province of Cañete, this village is 38 kilometers east of San Vicente de Canete, only 182 kilometers from Lima, from this city you get to Lunahuaná in about 2 hours after traveling a fully paved road. Currently Lunahuaná is a paradise for adventure sports like boating and cradle of the best pisco of Peru. During the pre-Hispanic era the Incas invaded the valley of Lunahuaná during the rule of emperor Pachacutec. Inca invaders built on the left bank of the river Cañete city center Incahuasi or "Casa del Inca" which should be "another Cusco" therefore had a sun temple, colcas and acllahuasi. The archaeological site of Incahuasi is located in the current Annex of Paullo, at kilometer 30 of the highway Cañete-Lunahuana. In colonial times the conquistador Francisco Pizarro gave the charge Lunahuaná Valley Don Diego de Agüero and Sandoval. In the seventeenth century it was built the Mother Church, which is monumental heritage of Peru, inside venerate St. James the patron of the town.
